Seraph vs Enduring Word
A commentary that runs from Genesis to Revelation, with a download price of zero on the US listing, and a quieter flame that never asks for an account. This page is written by the maker of Seraph — read it knowing that — and it will be generous to Enduring Word, because the commentary is real and the price on that listing is zero.
Our bias, declared: we make Seraph. The linked Enduring Word sources support the specific download price, store descriptions, account wording, and privacy wording identified below; this is not an independent review of either app. Our product details describe Seraph’s current published offering. If we've got something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
The main difference
Consider Enduring Word if you want Pastor David Guzik’s commentary on the whole Bible, on iPhone or Android. The US listing (id1436262209) on this check is titled “Enduring Word Commentary,” subtitle “With Pastor David Guzik,” seller Enduring Word, category Reference, age 16+, copyright “© 1996-present The Enduring Word Bible Commentary by David Guzik,” bundle id com.enduringword.commentary. JSON-LD Offer on that page is price 0, currency USD. Offer data sets isFree to true, hasInAppPurchases to false, and hasExternalPurchases to false. The offer title is “Get.” The lockup attributes line reads “Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.” The same description says “Always free, no subscriptions, no sign-in required,” and that the app “provides access to the entire commentary - from Genesis to Revelation in multiple languages,” usable “online or downloaded for offline use,” with passages that “can be bookmarked and shared.” This page is that Commentary app. It is not Bibleref - Enduring Word (id1534296001), whose attributes line includes “Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.” We do not copy that In-App Purchases flag onto id1436262209. We do not have Android, a commentary library, or those bookmarks.
Choose Seraph if you want something quieter: one flame kept daily, the whole King James Bible readable free, guided prayer paced by breath — and a hard privacy line: no account to create, no ads, and a public vow of no prayer analytics. Your prayer life stays on your device. Seraph+ is $6.99/mo or $59.99/yr on our US App Store listing and on our pricing page. The daily office is free. Sacred Seasons, including Advent, are not. There is no Seraph+ trial. Enduring Word’s US listing does not name a paid plan. We are a silent office with a paid season. This page is Enduring Word Commentary, not Blue Letter Bible, not Olive Tree, and not Logos. That is the fork.
Side by side
| Feature | Seraph | Enduring Word |
|---|---|---|
| Annual price | $59.99/yr | The US listing’s JSON-LD Offer is price 0, currency USD. There is no annual line on that page. hasInAppPurchases is false. The Play listing JSON-LD Offer is price 0, currency USD, and an Install control sits next to itemprop price content 0. Their 2026 Q&A says they spent more than $350,000 in 2025 on translation and foreign language work. That $350,000 is a translation-spend sentence, not a plan price, and it is not the $59.99 in the other column. We do not invent a $59.99 Enduring Word year. |
| Monthly price | $6.99/mo | No monthly SKU on the US listing. We do not invent a $6.99 Enduring Word month. The Q&A’s $350,000 is the translation sentence above, not a customer month. The Play listing prints no customer dollar besides the download priced at 0. This check did not read a donation tier dollar. |
| Family plan | — | None published on the pages cited here. A donate button, which their Q&A names on the website and on the app, is not a family SKU. We do not invent a family plan. |
| Free trial | None — the free tier is the trial | The US description does not print a number of days. It says “Always free, no subscriptions, no sign-in required.” The Play description does not print a number of days, and this check did not find that “no subscriptions” sentence on the Play page. We do not invent a trial. The download they price at 0 is the offer titled “Get.” |
| Free, forever | Daily verse · 2 guided sessions · the whole KJV Bible (1,189 chapters) · every reading plan · streak flame · reminders | The download they price at 0, with hasInAppPurchases false on the US listing. That description names the entire commentary from Genesis to Revelation, online or downloaded for offline use, bookmarks, and share. The Play description calls it “a book by book, chapter by chapter, verse-by-verse study through the entire Bible,” and it does not include the Genesis-to-Revelation sentence or the bookmark sentence. Their homepage says the teaching resources “have been online and always completely free,” and the same page also says you can purchase print editions, Logos, the Mantis app, and Kindle. Their FAQ says the commentary “is available free of charge at enduringword.com and on the Enduring Word app.” Those sentences do not name a complete Bible you can read apart from the commentary. |
| Subscription opens | Full guided-prayer library (12 sessions) · Sacred Seasons (Advent & Lent) | Nothing on the US listing is labeled as a subscription unlock. hasInAppPurchases is false, and this check did not find an in-app purchase list. Their Q&A says “we have a donate button on our website and on our app.” Their FAQ names Kindful and a “General” campaign, and the donation sentences this check read print no dollar. We do not invent a donation SKU from that sentence, and we do not treat hasInAppPurchases false and that donate-button sentence as the same claim. Bibleref - Enduring Word is a different listing. We do not move its In-App Purchases flag onto this app. |
| Account required | No — no sign-up exists | The US description says “no sign-in required.” Their Q&A says “We don’t require any kind of registration or email address to use any of our resources.” Their homepage still offers a newsletter signup for updates, devotionals, and resources. Their privacy policy uses a cookie example that includes “if you personalize Enduring Word Media pages, or register with Enduring Word Media site or services.” This check did not find a sentence that the commentary requires an account. We do not invent that requirement, and we do not invent that the newsletter and a commentary sign-in are the same thing. |
| Spoken Scripture | None as a spoken Bible product. Breath-paced guided prayer. Full KJV readable, not narrated as a catalogue of voices. | The Play description says “Listening and reading the Enduring Word Commentary brings the Scripture to life!” The US description does not name a spoken Bible or a catalogue of voices. We do not invent a voice catalogue of Bible translations, and we do not copy the Play “Listening and reading” sentence onto the US listing. |
| Prayer analytics | None — a public vow. Prayer data never leaves your device | The labels disagree. Apple’s privacy header on the US listing: “The developer, Enduring Word, indicated that the app’s privacy practices may include handling of data as described below.” Data Not Linked to You. The summary lists Location, Usage Data, and Diagnostics. Under the purpose split on that page: Analytics — Location (Coarse Location); App Functionality — Usage Data (Product Interaction) and Diagnostics (Other Diagnostic Data). This check did not find a Data Used to Track You shelf or a Data Linked to You shelf. The Play Data safety block, which says the developer provided it and may update it: “No data shared with third parties.” “This app may collect these data types” — “App activity.” “Data isn’t encrypted.” “Data can’t be deleted.” This check did not find a “No data collected” line, and did not find a Contains ads chip. Their privacy policy says “We do not collect personally identifiable information from our users. We may gather personal or non-personal information in the future,” and that Enduring Word Media “may automatically collect information about your computer hardware and software,” including “your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses.” Their Q&A says “We don’t track or sell the data of anyone who uses our website or our app.” We print those pages. We do not invent that they describe the same collection. We do not turn the missing Contains ads chip into a claim that the US listing says the app contains ads, and we do not turn that absence into a claim that the app is ad-free. Their website support page says Enduring Word “uses occasional pop up windows to advertise ministry related products or platforms” and “does not publish paid advertising from outside organizations.” Their Q&A says “We don’t have paid ads on our website, our app, or any podcast,” and that YouTube runs its own ads. We do not collapse the website pop-ups and the app into one ads sentence. We do not restate rating or ranking marketing from the store listings. |
| Scripture | Full KJV bundled; offline on iPhone | A commentary, not a Bible reader we found described as one. The US description names the commentary “from Genesis to Revelation in multiple languages,” online or downloaded for offline use. Their FAQ says “David Guzik uses the New King James Version in his Bible commentary work.” That is NKJV, not the King James text in the other column. The US Information section’s Languages line is English. Version history on that page, under 2.8.2 Sep 2, says the app “supports 11 languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi(Persian), French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish,” and that offline downloads are for “English and any language with all 66 Bible Commentary books translated (currently Arabic, English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish).” The 2.8.4 Sep 12 history line says “Added Hindi to the available languages.” Their app page says “Available in English, Spanish, Chinese, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian, with more languages coming soon!” We do not treat English, 7, 11, and Hindi as one count. The Play description on this check does not include the offline sentence or a language list. We do not invent a bundled whole Bible. |
| Platforms | iPhone and web | The US listing Information section names iPhone (Requires iOS 15.1 or later), iPad (Requires iPadOS 15.1 or later), iPod touch (Requires iOS 15.1 or later), Mac (Requires macOS 12.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later), and Apple Vision (Requires visionOS 1.0 or later). JSON-LD availableOnDevice on that page is “iPhone, iPad, iPod.” JSON-LD operatingSystem is “Requires iOS 15.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.” The lockup attributes line says “Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.” Lockup data for this adamId sets isIOSBinaryMacOSCompatible to true. We print all of those. We do not invent that they are the same claim. The Play listing is Android, package com.enduringword.commentary, developer Enduring Word, content rating Everyone, category Books & Reference, and “Updated on Sep 12, 2026.” Their app page links the US listing and that Play package. The US Information Developer Website control points at http://enduringword.com. The Play author URL is https://enduringword.com. We do not collapse http and https into one line. Size on the US listing is 56 MB. |
| Tradition | Broadly Christian, KJV | Seller on the US listing is Enduring Word. The subtitle is “With Pastor David Guzik.” The copyright line is “© 1996-present The Enduring Word Bible Commentary by David Guzik.” The Play developer name is Enduring Word. The Play description and the app page both say “Grounded in the historical, conservative Christian faith.” Their FAQ says Enduring Word “is recognized by the United States government as a not-for-profit, 501 (c) 3 corporation (Tax ID: 46-5454096).” Not Blue Letter Bible, not Logos, and not Bibleref. We do not restate chart position or review marketing from those store pages. |
| If you cannot pay | No scholarship or sponsorship path published. Advent and most guided sessions require Seraph+. | The app download is price 0. Their Q&A says the work is paid for by a donate button on the website and on the app, and the donation sentences this check read print no tier dollar. Their FAQ says “Financial gifts to the ministry of Enduring Word will be used toward commentary translation, publishing, and more.” A different sentence on that page says a donation to the “General” campaign will “further the translation work of the Enduring Word Bible Commentary and support administrative costs in connection with our focus and vision.” We do not combine those sentences. We found no scholarship sentence. We do not invent one. The $350,000 sentence is their 2025 translation spend, not a fee this check found for the reader. Print, Logos, Mantis, and Kindle on the homepage are other formats you can purchase. They are not a price this check found on the Commentary app. |
Enduring Word’s download on the US listing is price 0, with hasInAppPurchases false. Seraph+ is $59.99/yr or $6.99/mo, auto-renews, cancel anytime. Those are not a matched pair. The Q&A’s $350,000 is what they say they spent on translation in 2025. Seraph+ opens guided sessions and Sacred Seasons.
What Enduring Word does better
The commentary, the languages, the offline download, and Android. If “read Guzik on the passage, Genesis through Revelation, and keep it on the phone” is the requirement, their US listing is built for it, and the Play listing is the Android edition of that commentary. The US description says always free, no subscriptions, no sign-in required, bookmarks, and share. The Play description says a verse-by-verse study through the entire Bible, and it does not repeat the no-subscriptions sentence. Version history names more languages than the app page’s list of seven, and the Information section still says English. We print each page. They ship Android. We charge for Sacred Seasons and for the rest of the guided library. There is no Seraph+ trial: you never try a paid session before buying it. If you want this commentary without paying for the notes, Enduring Word is the honest recommendation, and we are not in that contest.
They are also not Blue Letter Bible (a study library with its own essay), not Olive Tree (a study library with its own essay), not Logos (a study library with named in-app prices, and its own essay), and not Bible Gateway. Those are different products. This page is Enduring Word Commentary, sold on the US listing by Enduring Word, bundle id com.enduringword.commentary, id1436262209. It is not Bibleref - Enduring Word, id1534296001. We do not collapse them.
What Seraph does differently
Restraint as a feature, and a Bible you can finish with your eyes. No account between you and prayer — their US description says the commentary does not require a sign-in, and the homepage still offers a newsletter. Ours has no sign-up screen. Prayer data never leaves the device. Their US listing reports location, usage, and diagnostics not linked to you, Play says the app may collect App activity and that data isn’t encrypted, and their Q&A says they don’t track or sell that data. Two prices, written in plain numbers: $59.99 a year or $6.99 a month, auto-renew, cancel anytime. The entire KJV free — readable, bundled offline on iPhone, every chapter — rather than a commentary their FAQ says is written with the New King James Version. A public web office you can open without installing an app. A streak that forgives a missed day instead of shaming it. No ads on free or paid. Guided prayer paced by breath. Their paid ask, on the Q&A, is a donate button, and a translation sentence of more than $350,000 in 2025. Ours is a season of guided prayer. We do not treat those as the same feature.
Three disclosures that belong here. The web subscription and the iPhone subscription are separate purchases and do not unlock each other. The complete offline Bible is the iPhone app; on the web, chapters you have already opened stay readable. And restoring a web subscription in a new browser emails a magic link, so we will not claim “no email ever.” There is no Seraph+ trial.
When each app wins
Enduring Word — if you want Guzik’s commentary, offline notes, or Android
Start from the US listing, the Play listing, or their app page. The US offer is price 0, and hasInAppPurchases is false. The Q&A still talks about a donate button, and it prints more than $350,000 as 2025 translation spend, not as a plan. The Play page prices the download at 0 and prints no customer plan. Use Android if that is your phone. Do not assume the lockup’s “Not verified for macOS” and the Information section’s Mac line are one sentence. Do not come here first for a silent one-flame office with no account and a public vow that prayer never leaves the device. The US listing names Enduring Word as the seller. Do not open Bibleref - Enduring Word and think you are on this page.
Seraph — if you want a quiet office with no account, a full readable KJV, and a price you can read before you install
Ours, last on purpose. A flame, the KJV, two free guided sessions, reading plans, no sign-up. Paid for the remaining sessions and Sacred Seasons, free for the office. Small, new, iPhone-and-web only. If none of those sentences is what you came for, Enduring Word is the better fit, and we would rather you found it here than felt sold to.
Sources and scope
Checked against the following official Enduring Word pages on . These references do not establish an independent review or endorsement of Seraph. Subjective product fit remains our assessment. We did not quote a rating, a review count, or an install total. This check did not find a customer plan dollar on the US listing or the Play listing, and we did not invent one. The Q&A’s $350,000 is their translation-spend sentence. The FAQ donation sentences this check read print no tier dollar. We do not invent a donation tier from that absence.

- Enduring Word Commentary on Google Play
Supports an Android listing titled “Enduring Word Commentary,” package com.enduringword.commentary, developer Enduring Word, content rating Everyone, category Books & Reference, JSON-LD applicationCategory BOOKS_AND_REFERENCE, JSON-LD Offer price 0 / USD, an Install control, itemprop price content 0, and “Updated on Sep 12, 2026.” What’s new is the load-time sentence quoted above, and page data pairs version 2.8.4 with “Sep 12, 2026.” We do not treat that dated line and the US “Sep 12” line as one string, and we do not copy the US Hindi sentence onto this What’s new block. Description supports the book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse sentence, “Grounded in the historical, conservative Christian faith,” author David Guzik, and “Listening and reading the Enduring Word Commentary brings the Scripture to life!” This check did not find the US “Always free, no subscriptions, no sign-in required” sentence, the Genesis-to-Revelation sentence, or the bookmark sentence in that description. Data safety, attributed to the developer: “No data shared with third parties”; “This app may collect these data types” App activity; “Data isn’t encrypted”; “Data can’t be deleted.” This check did not find a Contains ads chip, an In-app purchases chip, or a “No data collected” line. The app-support block names admin@enduringword.com. The About the developer block names appsupport@enduringword.com and 5521 San Ardo Way, Santa Barbara, CA 93111-1443. We do not collapse those two emails. The Privacy Policy control points at the slash URL below. The author URL is enduringword.com. We do not restate review counts or install totals from that page.
- Enduring Word privacy policy
Supports “This Statement of Privacy applies to the www.enduringword.com and Enduring Word Media,” “We do not collect personally identifiable information from our users. We may gather personal or non-personal information in the future,” the automatic-collection sentence naming IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, and referring website addresses, the cookie section, and the register example quoted above. The page we fetched does not print a last-modified date. We do not invent one. The contact line on that HTML is obfuscated. This check did not read a plaintext email address in that policy. The footer on the page reads “© 2026 The Enduring Word Bible Commentary by David Guzik.”
- Enduring Word smartphone app page
Supports “Read the complete Enduring Word Bible Commentary on your mobile device,” the seven-language sentence quoted above, “with more languages coming soon,” and “Grounded in the historical, conservative Christian faith.” The page links the US listing id1436262209 and the Play package com.enduringword.commentary. We do not treat that list of seven as the version history’s list of 11.
- Enduring Word homepage
Supports “For more than 30 years, these Bible teaching resources have been online and always completely free,” and the same page’s purchase sentence for print editions, Logos Bible software, the Mantis app, and Kindle devices. A newsletter form asks for an email address. This check did not find a plan dollar on that page. We do not treat “always completely free” and those purchase sentences as one claim.
- Enduring Word FAQ
Supports “available free of charge at enduringword.com and on the Enduring Word app,” “David Guzik uses the New King James Version in his Bible commentary work,” the 501 (c) 3 sentence with Tax ID 46-5454096, Kindful as the platform that processes donations, the “General” campaign sentence that a donation will “further the translation work of the Enduring Word Bible Commentary and support administrative costs in connection with our focus and vision,” and, in a different sentence, gifts used “toward commentary translation, publishing, and more.” We do not combine those sentences. The donation sentences this check read print no dollar. We do not invent a gift amount from this FAQ.
- Enduring Word website support
Supports “Enduring Word uses occasional pop up windows to advertise ministry related products or platforms, like our YouTube channel, a fundraising campaign, and the like,” and “Enduring Word does not publish paid advertising from outside organizations.” That page is about the website. We do not copy it onto the app, and we do not treat it as the Q&A’s “no paid ads” sentence.
- What’s ahead for Enduring Word in 2026
Supports “we spent more than $350,000 in 2025 on translation and foreign language work,” “We don’t have paid ads on our website, our app, or any podcast,” the YouTube monetization sentences, “We don’t track or sell the data of anyone who uses our website or our app,” “We don’t require any kind of registration or email address to use any of our resources,” and “we have a donate button on our website and on our app.” The $350,000 figure is their translation-spend sentence. The donate-button sentences print no tier dollar. We do not restate audience totals from that page.
- Bibleref - Enduring Word US listing (id1534296001)
Cited only to keep the apps apart. Supports the title “Bibleref - Enduring Word” and an attributes line that includes “Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.” This essay does not price that app’s purchases. The Commentary essay is id1436262209, hasInAppPurchases false. We do not collapse the two listings.
